Destination Mexico

The two week countdown until real deal summer sun and bikini body has begun. We’re headed to Mazatlan to spend a week with MK’s family soon, and I of course want everyone to tell me how good I look in a bathing suit, and not feel guilty about all the fruity beverages. Since we’ve only had one week of what I’d call “summer” weather up here, I’m doubly excited. I tried to lay out today but it got windy and pretty cold. No base tan for me, I guess. So I went and picked up my new toys:

ankle weights

Some super sexy cankles. (Those are boys legs.) Anyway. I got this great new little legs and butt workout thingy online and will be toning until go time. We’ll see how it works! I wasn’t sure about these weights, they look ridiculous and remind me of Denise what’s her name. I opted for the ten pound pair, the biggest they had, which reminded me just how much carrying around an extra ten pounds feels like.

As long as no one can see me, I’m fine with it. All for the sake of the skinny. I’ll let you know how it goes, maybe you and I can hang out with cankles together. So silly.

Great Marketing

Find the time to click this link, and tab through all the pages on the bottom right. (About 30 or so.) Miranda July does a hilarious job of making me want to read her book. I love it and wish I could think of something half as creative.

Oh, but I need to have a finished book first.

That part keeps messing with me.

The Gift Of Giving

I want one of these, please.

poollounger
This inflatable lounger has two joystick-controlled shrouded propellers to move you around. My next home just might have its own pool, and then it’s on. I’ll never have to yell ‘Get me a drink’ again. Linkvia Neatorama

Block Party

Did you know that Harvey Danger, of 1998 “Flagpole Sitta” fame, was a Seattle band? Me neither. They are apparently still together, as well. I will be in their vicinity tonight at the

South Lake Union Block Party. Click on the link, the poster is cool.

I’m going for the cheap (free!) local food, Picoso, and the Mutt-Mazing Race. But Harvey Danger might just get a hold on me. How can I resist?

Outdoor Adventures

Ever since we got to Washington, we’ve seen the out-doorsy. Even more than Texas, where I couldn’t believe how out-doorsy people were when I moved there. In TX, you run around the highways, in WA, you’re on them. So since we really need to keep up with these guys, and since we haven’t left the house since we took my parents to the airport, MK and I

went

kayaking.

It sounds like So! Much! Fun! right?

Well, we get in our little tandem hoopty ride, and we set off. In the wrong direction. After scooting ourselves to the lily pond area (finally!), I realize we are directly under a giant freeway that I have not had siesmically tested. I *might* have panicked, just a little. Silly, I know. I got better. We saw a heron.

We were out all afternoon, spying on the little duckies and such. It was tough going, against the tide and all that. And in a harbor, with giant yachts. That splashed you. I just realized my arms are really tired…

This is a stock photo, we decided not to bring the camera. No one really wants to see how I had to do all the work…

July Tally

This month I increased my ability to run further, longer, more often, and am running out of breath less often. Oh and my feet are still yucky. Tee hee.

Final count on the Calendar of Progress:

  1. I did sit ups and push ups instead of weights for the entire month. I lost over one pound, and assume it’s muscle mass, maybe a little itty bitty fat. Losing fat is going to be slower and slower going for these last one or two pounds.
  2. I managed to run a longer route, putting me over 5 miles a day.
  3. I drank like one or two drinks ever if we went out, except one night. That one is fairly common now.

I’m working on getting better at stretching before my runs, since the walking a block or two isn’t cutting it as a warm up. My legs have been extremely sore more often, and that’s a warning sign to me that I’m doing something wrong. I wish wish WISH that there were good classes at the gym here, I’m missing that the most out of anything. I saw people at Gas Works Park working out, but haven’t found any information on anyone doing anything I could get involved in. Not happy ’bout that!

Trendspotting/ Important News

This is over a month old, I’m ashamed to admit. I would have had it much much sooner if I was better at the internet. I love Demetri Martin and didn’t even know he’d been on the Daily Show.

Here you go:

Ooh, and here’s another:

In The Other Corner

This post and the comments think this new CBS show looks pretty bad, but I’m willing to admit that I’ll check it out. They compare the cute one to French Stewart, which I don’t see in the least, but whatever. There’s a preview in the first link I think is pretty funny.
