How It’s Made

A marathon of this show would certainly make you a little smarter. It might even teach you the finer points of working in a factory. It might make you hungry, there’s a lot of food on there. It might make you change the channel, I can’t lie, I don’t know you or what things make you do. However, I think we might agree one of the finer points of cable is certainly having more options than only Deal or No Deal and Wife Swap.

Honorable Mention

The sweet, sweet, sweetest, BIL in the world, was a little miffed he hasn’t had his own blog entry. How cute.

I’m pretty sure, therefore, that the treasure hunt that had little post its running all over my house when I got home this afternoon was purely to get his own feature story here. Did I mention that he’s a handsome, successful, athletic, friendly, caring guy?

He left us the Wii.

Better

I’ve been a little frustrated lately with the way some things in my life have been going. I am so blessed, so fortunate, to not need or want for anything. My life is full of wonderful people and great memories. Sometimes, despite all that, little things can get in the way. That can happen to everyone. I’m never one to admit something is wrong, I’d rather forget it or make it disappear. Unless it doesn’t make sense, then I worry. Lately, I’ve been worrying far too much.

I also don’t think in complete sentences, or thoughts. I’d found continually just when I think I had something or someone figured out, an event would come along to change my ideas completely. It was easier to simply coast along on the surface.

I had an amazing night last night. KE took me to Austin Stone Community Church. I haven’t been to any church in quite some time, and I’m pretty sure this was the problem in my life. The feeling was overwhelming. I can’t wait to belong, to continue to grow, to return to my faith, and to people who know what they are doing in this life: preparing for the next, and owning their being and serving others with it, not themselves.

It was truly a rewarding experience. I hadn’t expected much, from a 7pm service in the high school. I got so much more than I imagined. Real hope springs from turning my life around and getting excited again about doing something amazing.

Wii-Tarded

Spend a weekend around the Jokey-Mc-Jokertons, and you’ll be spending time creating words with Wii at the beginning, because you’ve played a good portion of your wii-kend.

Wii managed to make it out for one of the most wii-tarded dinners ever at Chuy’s where there was the worst service of all time (most waiters are happy it’s busy because they make money, those guys would rather DIE than work…) and all of us now have stickers on the ceiling that wii will commemorate with never wii-turning there again, but BIL really wanted to eat there. I was not too impressed with the food, give me Maudie’s any day over that place. Oh well.

Wii had a pretty good laugh at someone who’s identity will be protected for sake of you seeing and laughing at this person, who managed to hit themselves in the face getting a little too into the Wii Sports boxing. That was filed under ‘wii-diculous’.

Wii also got to see Saw, but only I and III because apparently II was not good, so not good in fact wii were forcibly kept from renting that one. Huh. I thought they were okay, but I honestly was expecting more gore.

Wii also did some Frisbee golfing, some coffee drinking, some painting, some El Arroyo eating, even some Fwii-birds – okay, that one’s a stretch – and I made over 5 trips to the gym in the last 4 days (twice at 8am – wow), I’m getting into this big time. Wii did a one-two combo of Body Pump and Combat and I am pretty sure that when I can feel my legs and arms again they will be much more muscular.

It is wii-tastic to spend the wii-kend with family, friends, and a little chill time around the game that kept us active and cracking up non stop. Wii couldn’t believe how long the wii-kend is when you don’t go out past bedtime and you get going at the gym early. It was certainly wii-tastic and wii-markable.

HOW could I almost forget to mention that I met someone who did an episode of Room Raiders (not wii-markable) that met JOHNNY ROTTEN and tell you that word on the street is he’s doing a wii-ality show called Rotten on the Road!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? He was (this is third hand information) at the Driskill Friday filming. I missed it. 😦

Wii Would Like To Play, Really

After a rousing night that started at the Alligator Grill, then headed to the Broken Spoke, the coolest, most fun two stepping party in the world, we went home. I was all excited to have a Mr. Dance himself throw me around the floor with this thing that people that know him say is the Mr. Dance Factor. Even if you’re totally inept, he can make you look fantastic, because, well, he’s Mr. Dance. The place was packed, and everyone knows everyone, which was adorable.

KE had an alright time too, if you ask me, meeting what I would consider a possible Mr. Right and this being their first real date. Hunky, and intelligent. We’ll see what happens there.

Anyway, the Brother in Law (BIL) brought the Wii and we watched, and watched. Shocking I’m sure, to you, that the men wouldn’t let us play. They were golfing and I wanted to bowl, but nooooooooo.

So I had one, in my own house, hooked up to my projection screen, and got no play time. BIL is off to Dallas for the night, with the Wii, so I will have to wait until Sat. night to give you my review. Let’s all just hope that it doesn’t involve me breaking any windows.

Full House

My husband has this innate ability to successfully forget to mention important things until the very last minute. As a result of this ability, I have more people than rooms in my house. I have a friend staying with me – that part was expected and perfectly fine. What I didn’t know is that I have a brother-in-law on a plane right now expecting a place to sleep in my home.

(Poor chickens).

The discussion ranged from said friend and brother becoming really good friends to getting a hotel for, well, us, we’re selfish. The result? Someone’s going to have to rock-paper-sissors for a bed vs. a couch. What can you do? I’m trying to be accomodating, at least I’m cooking and cleaning for them, right?

Also frustrating is that I have a super fun night out planned and husband will be at the airport. Super friend will be a stand in, and that will do!

Body Combat

Admittedly, the work out stories that I’ve mentioned pertain mainly to the classes I’ve attended at the evil Gold’s Globo Gym. That’s what I do. Hilariously, they only just now (today) noticed that my membership – which was supposed to be set up on a month to month payment – had not been paid since October. Huh.

They let me in anyway after I explained it was a little bit of their fault, and then a Mr. Manager explained to me just how many people he sees sneaking in to the place all the time. Then told me I was one of them. Grr.

Anyway…KD, D, and I decided to check out this Body Combat class. I have found most other classes pretty manageable. This one kicked my booty. I am toast. It was an entire hour of non stop activity was more intense IMHO than any jogging or whatever. I am looking forward to the Mon-Wed-Sat plan of continuing to attend this class, and fully expecting to be maybe 98 lbs. next month. Holy cow.

The drill sergeant trainer was hardcore, jump kick training, you ain’t got nothin’ on me guy who has DVDs on infomercials kind of trainer. Awesome.

*yeah, this guy*

Only bad things were the gym and class being packed and running into people we didn’t want to see on account of that. But hey, can’t win ’em all!

Good And Bad

The Good: I got to spend some time with a bunch of friends that I hadn’t seen in a while last night. DH and EL can make me laugh like no one else, and that hasn’t changed. I realized that they are doing bigger and better things, DH has SPONSORS he’s such an athlete, and that we’ll just have to make better efforts to make sure we get to see each other. KD and KE are great too, and I finally feel like I’m doing a good job as a friend, which in my growing up I had been questioning lately.

Also, I, for maybe the third or fourth time that I’ve even been out, found myself at a restaurant eating something that wasn’t bad for me. It was yummy and healthy, and I’m going to try to balance the food to work out ratio a little better since that seems to be the general consensus as to why I don’t only weigh 100lbs. yet.

And, wrapping up the good, I don’t think I’m one to say that I missed out on my childhood or anything, but I certainly experienced last night for the first time the putting on of a face mask that gets hard and peels off. KE and I couldn’t stop laughing as we tore at the bits of hardened goo. I’m pretty sure I look 4 years younger today (at least). Well, at least besides the stuff in my hair.

The Bad: There is one VBP (Very Bad Person) that happened to me not too long ago. Actually, now that I think about it, there were two right around the same time, strange. Anyway, this one I have had the pleasure of not thinking about for quite some time. However, AUSTIN BECOMES A VERY SMALL TOWN.

I think you know what I mean. I leave the house MAYBE once a day, for a gym or store or social event. I like to remain anonymous, if possible, maybe due to this event, or maybe just I didn’t do my hair quite right or make it to the NY Bestseller’s list quite yet. But in Austin, if you’ve done that networking thing, or even gotten to know people, for some reason, that have hobbies like you, or whatever made you friends at all, you run in to them. Especially when you’re unprepared.

ANYWAY, I didn’t run in to the VBP, but it was like I did. I ran in to someone else, that brought all that back and set me off. GRR! (That’s me being angry at the VBP.) This VBP is ruining LIVES. I hate that. So this is my little tirade that I hope VBP drops off the face of the earth so I can stop getting worked up about what a VBP that person is and go on with my life. It’s hard when you were so involved and tried so hard to stop the VBT (Very Bad Things) the VBP was going to do did. And that’s how I feel about that.

Wrap It Up Already

The difficulty now is the editing. I have manuals, a sense of style, papers, suggestions from everyone I can think of, and no desire to change a single sentence in this book of mine. I have been pushing through all the uncertainties and gotten sick enough of moping around and decided I am so anxious to publish this novel it is going to happen! I’ve gotten through almost the whole first chapter and succeeded in nearly a one-third increase, which puts me on target for a perfectly lovely sized book.

Writing is such a visceral thing, which takes you on a journey, not the other way around. To then go back and pick through that impassioned writing and see what makes the grade is one thing, but to creatively be ready with a backup that’s better than the rough draft has proved near impossible for me. It’s a delicate matter, and I’m not generally very delicate.

I of course will be hiring outside help as well, but it’s cheaper the less work they end up with, if you were wondering. Can’t wait to be selling this thing!
