Running Reaps Rewards

Well, besides the health and wellness junk, I decided I owed myself a new treat. I’m so in love with these:

and picked them up this week. They are the comfiest ever. Like a sock with a sole. I’ve been using them for all things walking and weight lifting, continuing to use my ugly Asics to run-run in.

MK almost died when I let the lady talk me into buying the matching pullover. But the colors are sooo pretty. Also, it has those little built in thumb holes. So cute. I’ve always wanted one of those. So, in 4 months or so, I will look adorable.

Swimwear Related Stress Disorder

There is no way I can comprehend how hard it is to find a bathing suit in August. August is supreme swim suit wearing time. It’s still hot out. It’s summer in some places…

Not all of us are going “back to school”. Frankly, I don’t even know why that’s an excuse for new clothes. Whatever. But Macy’s, surely your store is big enough to keep the swimwear around. As a matter of fact, I believe there should be a small permanent display. Some of us travel to exotic locales even in the winter, it’s crazy, I know.

The other SRSD problem I have is the top/bottom issue. Can’t every store keep the ups and downs together? I don’t want just a bottom, I’m not going to Greece every year. It’s not that hard. If someone buys a XXL bottom and small top, don’t make fun of how they look, just put those leftovers to the side. I don’t like ruffling through them. I need both pieces, on one hanger.

You are lucky that I did find the perfect suit. I didn’t even know that there was a much better looking top until I got home and found it on the internet. You are lucky at least I only paid clearance prices, or I might just go order it and save it for after this trip. Last minute shoppers shouldn’t have to pay this kind of a price for hotness. I wouldn’t have spent the whole summer convincing myself that last years suit was okay if I knew how hard this last minute change of heart would be. It’s unconscionable.

The Gift Of Giving

I want one of these, please.

This inflatable lounger has two joystick-controlled shrouded propellers to move you around. My next home just might have its own pool, and then it’s on. I’ll never have to yell ‘Get me a drink’ again. Linkvia Neatorama

Glorious Day Of Celebration

Finally, the day I’ve been waiting for! I found and fell immediately in love with the Hobo Madeline Clutch. Unfortunately, this perfect piece retails for 115$, and I have reluctance with paying anything more than 40$ for things I know I’ll get over soon enough…so what is one to do? Ebay, naturally!

I’ve been bidding for the last three weeks to no avail, until last week, and today in the mail I got my dream bag!!

Black Is The New Black

Fine, fine. I admit, finally that my wardrobe here in Seattle is a little drab. I’ve had to bring most of my fall and winter attire, in muted autumn hues, since it’s not 100 degrees and I can’t walk around in my half nekkid Austin summer type apparel. Also, my shopping here has been all about black, white, and black and white. AC let me know I needed to spice it up, but I didn’t see much while everyone was in town.

We ventured out rather successfully yesterday, where I scored some corals and yellows. Yay. I also found two perfect totes, as I have learned that big actual purses attract shady people, yet small bags do not hold books, mp3 players, sweaters, and whatever you buy at the Market on the way home. So, spring pastels just in time for summer. I’m always a step behind!

Seen This?

Well, I own one now, and let me tell you, it is seriously another thing trying to ruin my diet. As part of the ONE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY festivities I haven’t yet mentioned, MK and I went out for a delicious and fancy dinner. When our host tried to tempt us with dessert, we considered the possibilities, but MK was disappointed they had no Crème Brûleé, his favorite dessert ever. The only one he’ll eat. We (I) got ambitious and picked up the little set since I knew they existed and would be fun and have a recipe book. Whole Foods got us the lowest fat version of the recipe we could manage, but it is still so awesomely bad for you that I am reduced to one bite per ramekin MK eats. Needless to say, YUM! It was kinda a pain in the butt to make, as in we were impatient and it takes a while, but it was worth the wait. I am a delicious chef.

More Shopping And Driving

Background: I got my driver’s license the day before I moved to Austin. I then learned about crappy highways and things that don’t make sense, roads that end then begin again farther down, and the like. It’s crazy there. Or so I thought.

First thing in the morning Tuesday (I know, I’m so far behind) I go to the little gym here and run. And I suck. Shockingly, I know. It’s been like two weeks. I get showered up and put on the most expensive outfit, jewelry, and makeup, and perfume, I can find. I’m a sell out to the pressure, I know. MK and I go hunting around a little to see if we can find a place to get a cord he needs for his computer. We got soooooo lost. The roads here are bizarre!!! They are currently digging up the underground bus system and putting in an underground rail system, so they’ve created special bus lanes, shut down lanes, closed ramps, put stop lights on ramps, extended HOVs, and generally made the biggest mess ever. Makes Austin look deserving of roadway of the year awards.

We fall into a Costco, I guess they started here, and go shop-happy. We get his cord at the Office Max that appears to be in STARBUCKS CENTRAL HEADQUARTERS. That was a crazy place. Then it’s time for our meeting with you-know-who. We only had to u-turn twice (instead of three times) to get home. We put the groceries away and head down to the lobby. You-know-who tells us stuff that we already figured out for ourselves and is only slightly pleasant, probably due to the rude glaring look I have, the yawns I keep faking, and the eye rolling and watch glancing I throw in for good measure. I address MK instead of you-know-who when I ask who handles the recyclables. Take that. I thought about psyching on the handshake, but he wouldn’t have understood.

I make us some lunch, and we lounge a little. The time difference shouldn’t affect us too much, but it is a little strange to call the east coast, and figure out the TV schedule. I tried so hard to get on the internet and say hi, but my computer wasn’t picking up any free wifi. Grr. We went for a nice walk three blocks down, where the mall and Nordstrom’s is. That is going to be good times.

I already know. There’s so much there! We browse the restaurants and look at the menus in the windows. We stopped at Seattle’s Best, which I learned is OWNED by Starbucks (I bet y’all already knew that) but wasn’t very clean. Or good. They took so long to make MK’s drink that we have a free coupon to use, if we ever go back. We found the equivalents to the Austin Chronicle and read those for a bit. Then it was home for dinner. Kind of a low key day, but the exploring was fun. MK does a great job figuring out where things are. I do not exactly have an excellent sense of direction.

Nice Shades

Check these babies out. I bought them last week. Which makes no sense since I’m moving to somewhere with no sun. But I think I need them. Really. They are Maui Jim sunglasses. They are bendy and flexy and have a nice rubber nose piece, so I can run out of doors. I am super sensitive to sunlight and hate wearing my regular glasses (they’re the big Nicole Richie kind) because I look like a moron and they get all sweaty.

I don’t know what all this means but it’s pretty fancy:

They were a little pricey, but I looked around and didn’t see them cheaper on the internet or anything like that, and couldn’t find any that were better. Thanks to my friend AC for helping me find them!

Austin-American Statesman Domain Map

Finally! Some fantastic higher lever retail in Austin! Everyone can clear out of Saks at the Arboretum slowly…easy…that’s good…

A good amount of this opens next week, so if you don’t want to get crazy in the crowds, stay away from Mopac and Burnet!!

New Features

There is a page dedicated to the books that I’ve read, to make it easier to browse, there are even amazon links…CLICK HERE if you can’t find it…My thoughts are that rather than review every book I read as an entry, which would put half of you to sleep, you can just ask me about it if you’re interested in something in particular. I ‘read up’ on every book I read, and think I have a pretty defined preference, so most of the books you’ll see there I’d recommend.

I also posted my “amazon wish list” so you can see what I’m planning on reading next…

or for when you’re wondering what to get me for a belated President’s Day Gift.
