Playing All Day Again

You’re going to have to let me know when you’re sick of this stuff, it’s making me L.O.L. though. For serious. It’s great being fun-employed. Honestly, I just scrolled all the way down the page myself. It is too much. I promise to go out and do something so I have a story to tell you. Soon. I’m just so busy packing…

That was my web2.0 logo, from the Web Name Generator .

I found all these today from the Generator Blog

This is my neon sign, duh:

This is my puzzle:

And this, obviously, is my favorite.

Productive

Today was spent entirely catching up on the internet…I tell everyone I don’t spend that much time reading other people’s blogs, and there is some truth to that. WordPress has it’s own aggregator so that I don’t need to go to anyone else’s that I’ve blogroll-ed. I can skim from my dashboard. But there are some hilarious sites that I’ve found and when I do, I go through them in a whole sitting. Not that I want to point you away from my own blog here, but somegosoftly knows you’ll be back. 😉

I’ve got a funny webcomic for you to browse if you don’t feel like working – you won’t get caught, it’s not too long. Some are strange, but others are outright hilarious:

xkcd.com

Here’s a sample, one of my favorites.

Another one I love, and I’ve been reading for quite some time, although I have to admit to you that I don’t always get them without having to think about it for a while:

indexed.blogspot.com

Here’s a sample too.

card761.jpg

I found both of these sites here:

whatweallwant.blogspot.com

after finding that one here:

To Whom it May Concern. Indexed and TWIMC are both in my blogroll on the right if you want to find them more often, they are worth repeated stops. I understand WWAW has come to an end. I spent all day there today and can’t lie, got some interesting talking points. So if you go through the whole thing, don’t call me out on that, I’m well aware.

Finally, here’s another interesting link

error204.blogspot.com.

That guy is all over the web and you can find some neat vids and info.

Finally, if you click no where else, click here. (hahaha)

Important Internet Info.

This Is Spartaaa…

What did you think of that movie, The 300? The gratuitous nudity and beefy men had me only half interested. The cinematography was neat. I didn’t know it came from a comic book graphic novel… that’s cool, I guess. I saw it at the Alamo, the day it came out, that may have been the most interesting part. Only people really into a movie do that (and their wives…)

No matter what you thought, you should love this thread, despite the low bandwidth for the image hosting – hopefully they’ll fix that. Be sure to scroll through ALL pages of comments to see every image. I can’t stop laughing.

Edited to add: Since this is one of my most popular posts I thought I’d share this pic,

via chickencrap.com, since I heart Chuck Norris:

Another Good Cause

There are some things I notice about growing up. I had never run around being involved in charity  very often, I can’t lie to you. Must have been since I watched The Inconvenient Truth and then the Tom Brokaw special on global warming (his is actually better, more informative) and then last night I saw that Planet Earth special on Discovery – all THREE HOURS of it – that I’m getting a little concerned about my role in this life.

Here’s a great site that I found. If you use this as your search engine this week, Microsoft will be donating money to the UN Refugee Fund.

9million.org

There are also t shirts and a donation site here.

For Snippy’s Readers

Since our dear friend snippy is going to be gone for a while, and I get a ton of her traffic as well, I thought I’d share with you some research that I found out about Italy, so we can imagine her trip more clearly:

Fun Facts About Italy

  • Italy is slightly larger than Arizona.
  • Almost 20% of Italy’s population is over 65 years old.
  • The average Italian makes $26,700 a year, however those in the more prosperous north make almost $40,000
  • The thermometer is an Italian invention.
  • The average Italian consumes half a pound of bread a day.
  • With almost 40 million visitors, Italy is the fourth most visited country in the world.
  • The average Italian is 41 years old.
  • The average Italian consumes 26 gallons of wine a year.
  • Italy has more hotel rooms than any other nation in Europe.
  • Italians used to be known for having large families, however Italy is now known for having Europe’s lowest birthrate.
  • Italian families save more money than the Japanese and Germans, and three times more than Americans do.
  • The average Italian consumes 25 kilograms of pasta a year.
  • Italy imports over 75% of its energy.
  • “Ars longa, vita brevis” is a common saying in Italy. It means “art is long, life is short” and reflects the Italian love of leisure.
  • Italy has a resident foreign population of 1.27 million.
  • The national sport of Italy is soccer (known as football outside of America).

So what can we presume for our friend’s trip other than that IF she returns, it will be on the arm of a former soccer-playing man, over 40, who will subsist on bread, pasta, and wine, she will have no babies and she will be more leisurely? Nah, but we all hope she has a good trip!

SXSW Night One

There is too much going on to talk about! There was the talking about the Interactive panels, the Twitter phenomenon, the blogging for money, for a career, a worthwhile discussion to be had by anyone. There was a King of the Hill conversation I missed but threw Homies in there anyway. I’ve made it D-elebrity status after talking LC and JA to wear ponchos with my name on them if the rain keeps up. And of course there was the music!!

The rain did not let up. We took that as a challenge. Unfortunately, it made us late and we missed the band that I really wanted to see, Quiet Company. Fortunately, it was a small crowd, so later on we got to meet the band, score the EP, and visit about topics from blogging to tambourine resumes. Which I may soon have one of – to try and get in a band of course – woohoo.

I also talked to Tony Pierce about the panel, the blog world, and everything I missed by not being smart enough to score the badge and browse the panels. I was a little concerned that he’d have better things to do, but he was the coolest for fielding my questions and doling out tips. XXOO.

We forgot our camera, which was completely inexcusable and will not happen again! Promise you’ll get to see first hand all the fun we’re having!

New Features

There is a page dedicated to the books that I’ve read, to make it easier to browse, there are even amazon links…CLICK HERE if you can’t find it…My thoughts are that rather than review every book I read as an entry, which would put half of you to sleep, you can just ask me about it if you’re interested in something in particular. I ‘read up’ on every book I read, and think I have a pretty defined preference, so most of the books you’ll see there I’d recommend.

I also posted my “amazon wish list” so you can see what I’m planning on reading next…

or for when you’re wondering what to get me for a belated President’s Day Gift.
