Here is the giant post of the most recent adventures in pictures. I’m most excited today because we went to the Downtown Seattle Library today and took a tour. I got a library card, something I don’t think I’ve had since I was in middle school. It was a riot. It’s a beautiful place:
I’m pretty excited about spending some time there.
That’s Qwest and Safeco from Highway 99 into town
That’s Safeco inside, you can see we spared no expense on seats. The guys that were raking dropped them and did a hilarious dance. I got the pic of the big screen right when the Red Sox ad popped up, woohoo. The guys were old(!) and it was adorable. It was a pretty good crowd and the Mariners also beat the Royals, yay!
This is Alki Beach, west of the city, with a great view.
Here are two very different types of fish at the Pike’s Market Anniversary Celebration:
peoplefish and monkfish ![]()
And last but not least, how about every state border we crossed:
Is that the Rem Koolhaas library? I gotta check that out if I come up there.
Sure is. The board spent their own money to fly to Europe to see his work since he didn’t have any others in the US. His entire pitch was “I can imagine your library”. I learned that today on my tour! 😉
Cool pics of the state borders. I tried to do that when I went on my road trip, but it was really difficult to do that solo while driving. I got a few though. 🙂
Plus, I would’ve taken pictures of about 35 border crossings (about 15 being the same state, 3 times in New York and Massachusetts apiece).
Mmmmmm…monkfish…
Aside from lobster, has anything so f–ing scary-looking ever been so f–ing tasty? I wonder about the first person to ever try eating one: “Say, is that a fish or a pile of feces? Heck, I’m too hungry to care…say, this lump of feces is pretty good!”
This reminds me, I’m thinking about a roadtrip for no apparent reason (just need a vacation). I’ve already driven from Texas to the mid-Atlantic, Texas to the Deep South, and Texas to California. How’s the Texas-to-the-Pacific-Northwest drive? It’s that or I head south for Tierra del Fuego.
